Oickles' official guide to souls
Oickles' official guide to souls Hey everyone, I'm here to write this out to those of you who are still wondering how souls and fusions work. I have been seeing a lot of questions and confusing answers being thrown around and I wanted to share some tips and tricks to help everyone out. As you know, souls are the biggest addition to our game and with this, comes some changes in stats that we seek out, ways we farm and ways we boss. What are soul shards and souls? What are the differences? Soul shards are pieces of a bosses soul that you can combine when you have collected 10 pieces into one soul equip. Souls are the spirits of the bosses that you have fought, (or whaled) and they are now in your possession when you equip it onto your primary weapon. Souls come in many varieties such as shown here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y552a28ri7bng7f/Screenshot_20190718-052234_Chrome.jpg?dl=0 Unlike ms1 where souls only came in contact with your weapon, the souls here have a different mechanic that makes it all the while more interesting. Soul equipping and enhancers. Soul enhancers are pieces of equipment that allow your equipment to hold soul pieces. There are 2 known rarities (the 3rd is unconfirmed but 100%). The first rarity is the prototype, which allows you to enhance your equips into soul equips with a 10% chance. See here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pjy9vcrgcifm3cz/Screenshot_20190719-130652_MapleStory%20M.jpg?dl=0 The other which i leaked was coming out in packages are the commercial soul enhancers. These give your equips a 60% chance to succeed. See here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2koc6gbw6szgnsi/20190719_131708.jpg?dl=0 These can be used on equips such as your primary weapon, belt, cape, shoulder, and secondary weapon. When you succeed you will see a message such as this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2yr1prmtdp89c3y/MapleStory%20M_2019-07-18-01-33-28.jpg?dl=0 This means that you are ready to equip your soul onto your weapon/equip and enjoy it's benefits. Weapon and equip souls (long text) As many of you have seen by now, souls stats vary depending on if you are equipping this on your primary weapon or other equips. Let's go over some things because, I have discovered a way to help you save time and energy. I was opening souls the night that it came out and I obtained a magnificent zak soul. Later on that night someone caught a mag cygnus soul. What I learned is that magnificent souls have different stats depending on the difficulty of the bosses. For example, my bow as shown here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t8th93khxdeg3fq/MapleStory%20M_2019-07-19-10-33-33.jpg?dl=0 Compared to a user with a higher difficulty boss: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qamco0sg50f4khn/Screenshot_20190718-105304_Chrome.jpg?dl=0 This does not mean that anyone's souls are worse. In fact to ANYONE READING THIS: IF YOU GET ANY MAGNIFICENT SOULS; KEEP IT. From my estimates, the bosses' stats goes as follows: (Soul stats) (updated due to me finding astrals post before posting this) https://i.redd.it/frfry3u6m7b31.png Credits to astral for finding the stats Weapon and equip souls (continued) Soul leveling is a complicated process that requires a lot of time if you are f2p. Leveling souls requires you to have 2 or more equips with the same bosses soul attached see here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5ngjmzwksn01xzn/AADJ7MlLvC46S13Bq6tYCCSla?dl=0 When you attach your soul to your weapon, you will be able to use the souls skill. This allows the boss to assist you in fighting, bossing etc. Each boss has their own damage% with magnificent doing more than normal. Take my soul for example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kez3mpe24g6qn3j/MapleStory%20M_2019-07-19-09-52-09.jpg?dl=0 Based on it's stats, it is stronger than my WA's hyper (Normal Zak DOT is >100%). But every boss differs and their skills are different depending on the rank of the soul. Cygnus Cygnus for example is an all summon skill, meaning she will fight with you and stay by your side for a fixed amount of time. Her normal attack is a telepathic ability that damages her enemies. Her magnificent form is also a summon and this form allows her to use her tornado skill (yes that one that everyone hates) on mobs dealing damage. Zakum Not all souls are summons that stay, zakum has increased damage and damage over time but he only appears for a couple of frames. Pink bean Pink bean is what I call a "universal" boss because his type of soul will be more common throughout the game (Damien, Lotus, Lucid (she switches from a platform to a following soul) . In his normal mode, he appears for one second and attacks (his pushing ability if I can remember). However in his magnificent form, he acts like cygnus and drops musical notes on opponents. He is the second bis but, this type of soul gamble is more common in late game bosses. What do I equip on my main weapon? The answer is simple, for those seeking out a higher tier boss, prepare to spend a lot more and to wait a bit longer. The rates goes from Zakum > Pink bean > Cygnus. Magnificent soul chances from shards (i've opened 130+ shards) are a hypothetical >5%. You have a higher chance of getting a unique secondary weapon essentially. If you get a magnificent soul as you are starting out with this, use the soul until you get another magnificent soul. ANY MAGNIFICENT SOULS YOU GET, DO NOT THROW AWAY. Magnificent souls are a great option and they can give you stats that even higher tier bosses can't give you in their normal forms (Even damage). Tiers: In terms of magnificent souls, I've came up with this tier list of boss stats on your primary. These stats are bis and will take you to the next level. if you roll a bad stat, you will need to get another mag soul to reroll. S Tier stats: Crit rate (crit rate because bosses have crit res now, making this bis) Final damage A tier stats: (flat damage is more effective and boosts overall crit) Phy damage Mag damage Boss damage B tier: Crit damage (because of it's low %) C tier: Hp% increase Mp% increase If you do not have a mag soul, your best option in terms of normal souls are to go for phy att % and mag att % souls. The secondary effects of other souls, can be another great stat for you. For example, clever zakum gives 1.3% crit damage to secondary equips. This is something ive been using on most of my equips and my damage has increased dramatically. (Edit) for time convince and money saving purposes, I heavily advise against adding magnificent souls on your secondaries. Final dmg is good but mag souls are too rare and the rng associated with it is too great. I highly recommend running crit dmg and boss dmg which are bis for non mag secondaries. Soul questions Do souls expire? If the souls are unequipped and are not magnificent, they will expire (if they are equipped, they will become permanent). If you are saving magnificent souls, this will allow you to select what set you want to aim for. All you would need to do is put your. magnificent soul onto your weapon and start collecting whatever souls you're interested in. Can items with souls attached be sold in trade station? I discovered this loophole this morning and I can conclude that you can indeed sell items in trade stations with souls equipped. See here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2nk16ytxuvz99e9/MapleStory%20M_2019-07-19-05-25-50.jpg?dl=0 Will failing soul enhancers boom your equips? No, the enhancer will simply disappear and your weapon or equip will not become a soul item. Do you need all of the same stats in order to get a soul bonus? No, it can be any random stat from the boss, as long as the boss is the same soul Does the soul charge meter provide any extra stats for reaching 1000 souls? Yes, see here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nqrx60r78uw7y0y/MapleStory%20M_2019-07-18-01-38-13.jpg?dl=0 How does soul fusion and extraction work? You can fuse soul shards for a chance to get a random collection of souls. For example, if i fuse cygnus souls and zakum souls, i have a chance to get either or. Extraction is when you take a soul and extract the shards out of it. Let's say you got a bunch of bad souls, just extract and it'll give you more soul shards. If i upgrade my gear or fuse? Does my soul disappear? Not sure if this is intentional or bugged but nexon has a system where, if you fuse your gear your soul disappears. Credits to a user who did this experiment himself: https://www.reddit.com/r/MapleStoryM/comments/cfh66u/for_whoever_that_is_wondering_if_soul_stays_when/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share This means that you should only use this on gear that you aren't going to change any time soon (I.E mythics or boss sets) *edit ranking up keeps the soul (so souls are essentially emblems)
